Back in 2004, Liz and Mel Purdue met Khun Lek (Rampang Puangping) in Phuket. Sharing a love of animals, they started helping the many stray dogs and cats on the island (and a few stray children as well).
Following the death of Mel Purdue, Liz and Lek moved to Chiang Mai, bought land in Mae Rim and built a house.
Kitten rescue in Mae Rim started with a kitten called Smokey found at the side of the road in early 2017. She was our first adoption. More followed!
Today we have a shelter at the house in Mae Rim for around 40 cats and kittens, a facebook group with more than 1,000 members from all over the world.
We have rescued and homed hundreds of kittens, helped a number of badly injured kittens and sterilized untold numbers. We have developed an excellent relationship with a number of local vets, have invaluable support from WVS Thailand for our sterilization program and have a network of Thai and Western people working to improve the lives of stray cats in and around Chiang Mai.
Khun Lek’s family continues her work in Phuket and Phitsanulok.
Your donation and sponsorship makes a huge difference in the lives of these cats and the cat communities around Chiang Mai.
